Cristi + Mark, Engagement session | Boulder wedding photographer

Cristi and I had been emailing all week attempting to decipher the weekend weather. Sunny, raining, cloudy, raining, sunny? The Boulder forecast was like my dog trying to make a decision to be inside or outside, constantly changing her mind and driving me crazy. Luckily for me, Cristi was totally game for taking a risk and it paid off.

Between beautiful green Boulder, Marley (the sweetest dog besides mine), umbrellas, and beer from the Southern Sun on Pearl Street, this engagement session was just so much fun! Cristi and Mark are just the cutest and I absolutely can’t wait for their September wedding.

Pre-school Graduation | Boulder portrait photographer

Between the month of April flying by and the last five years, I can’t believe my little girl will be heading out on her newest adventure, kindergarten. On Friday night, CCLC celebrated the 5 year olds. With a handmade sign created by the kids, we made a photo booth to capture this momentous moment with a family photo for everyone.

Here are a few of them, mine included. I’m never in my own photos so this one means a lot to me.

I need to head off to bed as I am running the Title 9 Mother’s Day run at 9am tomorrow. Cold, wet and raining is the forecast. Doesn’t it sound great! Want to join me? Hope you have a warm and cozy Mother’s Day tomorrow! You deserve it. xo. j

3 days old, 72 hours, 4, 320 minutes old. What a beautiful little nugget this boulder baby is. The whirling energy of Carina’s older siblings created a dynamic and spontaneous newborn portrait session. From authentic smiles and giggles to refusing to look at the camera despite how many fairy princess’ were flying around in my camera lens, I love the day in the life feeling of this newborn session.

I am catching up on work as my computer was unhappy last week. Stayed tuned for a bunch of posts this week.

Newborn photography tips…warm temperatures, swaddling and lots of milk are key ingredients to a newborn session to keep your newborn asleep and happy. Try it! Also, don’t be afraid to move furniture around in order to get the best light in your home. For Owen’s session, I had to move some chairs around to find the best light and this little guy just glows.

On April 29th, I will be doing outdoor mini sessions in Boulder. Your investment is $275 for the session and will have both morning and afternoon sessions available.

Each sessions is 30 minutes long and will include 2 4×6 prints, 2 5×7 prints, 2 8×10 prints, and 1 11×14 print.

Arriving home from the hospital the same day as his newborn session, peaceful is the best word to describe him. New sounds from his dogs panting in his ear to the click of my shutter, Gavin, 4 days old, was mellow, happy, and content to be snuggled and loved.

Little boys love to snuggle, it’s a fact. My soon-to-be 3 year old is no exception. Knowing the snuggle phase will soon vanish along with unique sayings like “dump dump,” “waiting me”, and “milky”, I drink each snuggle I receive. Watching Avi and Curtis cuddle up Gavin and introduce him to his new home was sweet. Thanks for sharing this special day. No memory can compare to the first day your bring your baby home and suddenly it is very real you are parents.

One of my favorite parts about newborn shoots is the way it brings me back to when my two kids were 8 days old. Their tiny fingers and toes stretching out to grab onto to mom or dad knowing already who is there to protect and care for them. Newborns remind me that all anyone really needs is love.

The Walkers had me over for Silas’ first portrait session. Only 8 days old, he was a champion posing and cooing during his 2 hour session. Can’t wait for our next family session!
