I love working with Spry because the women featured are so inspirational. Mari Ruddy founded Team WILD, We Inspire Life with Diabetes, and empowers women endurance athletes with diabetes. After hanging out with them for one afternoon, I was motivated to sign up for a sprint triathlon.

Usually, I am sprinting around a field trying to convince a toddler to just look once into my lens because there is a fairy princess or fire truck inside of it. On Saturday, Maggie would not stop looking at my camera. She said, “I know these pictures are important to my mom because she is going to keep them forever.”

This little girl has be to one of the luckiest. What a first birthday celebration! The beautiful desert table was style and designed by Lemon Sprinke. Can you even believe it?

I have been capturing Kendall’s first year every two to three months and it all started in her mom’s belly, newborn, 5 months, and 8 months.

Happy Birthday Kendall! Can’t wait to see what this next year has in store for you.

I hear Friday in Boulder is going to be the coldest day of the year. Even though I am looking forward to seeing some of the white stuff in town, I am not very excited about feeling the bitter cold. Good thing I got a new hat under the tree this year.

To warm you up, I wanted to share with you a summertime photo collaboration. In July, Indea and Jared, owners of Lillabee, and I created the photography for their website. Lillabee is an allergy friendly baking mixes based in Boulder, Colorado. You might have seen them at the Boulder Farmer’s Market this summer. Lillabee was across from Wisdom chicken, a favorite of mine, and had the super cool hot pink wooden chandler in their booth. Pancake, muffins, brownies, and yellow cake can be made from their delicious mixes. And my kids love them which says a lot.

One of the best elements of this project was the collaboration between Indea, Elizabeth at Spark and Flourish, and myself. I loved have the input of the Elizabeth who designed the logo and website during the shoot. She had a great eye and her intimacy with the product was invaluable during the shoot. If you are drooling over the yummy looking cupcakes, they were all styled by Kim at Tea and Cakes.

I am looking forward to working with everyone again in 2011.

Canning Tomatoes in Boulder, Colorado | Colorado Lifestyle Photographer

This morning Toni, Kiley, and I bought 40 lbs of canning tomatoes from the Boulder Farmer’s Market. Having never canned, I was a bit overwhelmed by the process but nothing like 3 girlfriends and one mom to concur the project. It is so satisfying to buy fresh food from the market, talk to the person who grew your food, and then go home to prepare it for your friends and family for the winter months.

Two canning pots, 28 pint jars, 40 lbs of tomatoes, a lot of basil from the garden, and a lot of hot water, we finished. On to the next project, pickles!

Before the Fairy and Elf parade in Boulder on Friday, Heather Willison, a Stella and Dot stylist, and I met up at Chautauqua. Stella and Dot has the most adorable little girl line of jewelry and our two little fairies loved their new pieces. As a mom, I was very impressed with the combination of style and durability of the little girl line. And Madeleine loved it all because she matched me with rings, bracelets, etc…

You have to love anyone who can make a pair of hunters just as sexy as 3 inch heels. Just before Valentine’s Day, we snuck over to her house during lunchtime to play. We chatted earlier about what outfits to wear and everything came together perfectly. In my opinion, the hunter boots paired with her husbands flannel shirt was the ultimate sexy combination. I am pretty sure her husband agrees.

Anyone who loves Colorado beer is familiar with Avery beers. Well, this little one was named after the brewery…a great name and a great brewery.

Walking into the stephanie’s home, a boulder architect, I got so excited seeing the old white stove which belonged to her grandmother. You can’t create that family heritage and connection in a studio setting. This is why I love going to people’s homes and making environment lifestyle portraits. The portraits reflect the personality and style of the family.

colorado christmas tree

Yesterday the family took a trip to Pickle Gulch Campground to cut down our own tree. Through the forest service, you can buy a permit for $10 to cut down a tree and help thin out the forest to prevent forest fires. Two kids, one dog, one red sled, and one tiny saw, we hiked a 1/4 miles to find our authentic colorado christmas tree. I think we just found a new family tradition. Once we finish decorating it, I will post a photo of final project.

The tree actually fell down on Maddie's head. Oops.
