There is something about tiny shoes and especially tiny red converse that just melt your heart. Can you even believe they make shoes this small?!? This sweet family is expecting their 2nd little peanut in October and I am looking forward to meeting him/her.

It is always a little intimidating to shoot another photographer even when it is your good friend. Stacy Ziegler is expecting her second in April and she asked me to capture this amazing time in her life. I was happy to do this for her as she photographed the birth of my little guy in 2009. I cherish those photos so much. My memory of his birth is similar to my memory of my wedding. Of course, my wedding was not painful, but both events move so quickly that my memories are blurry and fuzzy. A lot of the details I forgot or did not even notice, but I have the photos to remind me.

Walking into the field, we carried 3 shopping bags filled with outfits, props, and a quilt. I loved having the ability to switch up Stacy’s look with outfit and jewelry changes during the session. And we lucked out with some great warm Boulder February weather too which allowed us stay outside until 5pm.

Can’t wait to meet the newest Ziegler in just a few weeks.

When Jenny was pregnant with Oliver (almost 5), she surprised Miles by putting a bun in the oven to tell him she was pregnant. Using that idea, our maternity photo shoot centered around the family making cinnamon rolls and buns. At the end of the shoot, we put two buns in the oven as Jenny is expecting twins in April!

I can’t wait for the twins newborn session in April.

Last weekend, I met up with Lynn, Greg and Michael for a family portrait session in Boulder to capture their family of three before they become a family of four in February. Lynn and Greg are the creative team behind Brighter Day Floral in Boulder. And Michael, their son, was/is a creative genius in the tall grass surprising me with a mulitude of animal faces. Also, Lynn designed the flower arrangements for Maddie’s 4th birthday party in November which consisted of 1,000 gum balls and lots of pink.

You have to love Boulder because in December the sun will be shining and the temperature will be 50 degrees. This is what we happened last weekend. The perfect combination for a location lifestyle portrait shoot! Tomorrow I have two more family portraits in Boulder, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for a blue bird day, 50 degree weather, and no wind! After tomorrow it can snow two feet to get us all in the holiday spirit and some fresh powder up at Eldora.

I can’t wait for our Boulder newborn photography session in February at your Boulder home. Michael is going to such a wonderful big brother.

For any mom considering a baby photography session, here is a tip. It is best to schedule the newborn photo session 10-12 days after birth. It can feel overwhelming to think about a photo shoot when you are more focused on nursing and sleeping. However, this is such a special time to capture. The size and shape of your newborn changes so quickly. Plus, you want photos before baby acne sets in because it can last two days or two months.

I love it when a good friend asks me to photograph them. Mariah and Derek are some of my first friends in Colorado and they are expecting a little girl in just a few weeks. Our plans changed a little bit due to an afternoon thunderstorm and ate dinner first at Protos, my favorite.

After a delicious pizza, we headed out to capture their expanding family. Linus and Jasper were all too curious to what was going on with their parents.

If I can recommend one thing to do before the baby arrives, it is spoil yourself. Go out to dinner, get your toes painted, and see lots of movies!
