Natural Head shots | Boulder portrait photographer

Traditionally March is the snowiest month in Colorado. However this past weekend the birds were chirping, the daffodils popped out of the ground, and it was t-shirt and flip flop temperatures. I LOVE it. One of my shoots on Saturday was for the girls at Pure Barre in Boulder. The studio wanted a more natural and fun style for their head shots than just the basic white seamless, studio lit head shot. Playing around downtown Boulder, we went to four different locations and had two outfit changes.

These girls are so beautiful that they made my job easy. I can’t wait for round 2.

Here are the details.

Spring family portrait sessions with Julia Vandenoever

Saturday March 17th – Wonderland Lake, Boulder
9:30-11am

3:30-5:30pm

Sessions are a half hour long and will include private online gallery 10-12 professionally edited images from the session, 3 5×7 print, 2 8×10 print, and 1 11×14 print. Your investment is $225 for the session.

The Makerie, A Creative Retreat | Boulder, Colorado

Who doesn’t want to get their hands dirty with paint, learn how to letter press, or take more compelling photos of their life? Carving out creative time and space, can be difficult between loads of laundry, cooking dinner, and picking up toys. I can’t usually even find my fabric scissors, let along find 3 hours to sew. Escaping to Chautauqua for a dedicated creative retreat where your right brain can be the boss, is the best therapy. My recommendation, grab your mom or your best friend and sign up for the 2012 weekend.

Last year I documented The Makerie and my photos recently appeared in two magazines: Mollie Makes and Uppercase. Seeing your work published never seems to get old.

Have you heard about Stella and Dot? It is beautiful affordable jewelry that you can wear everyday and everywhere. Heather Williams is a new Colorado Stylist for Stella and Dot and last week we worked together to create some gorgeous portraits for her Facebook page. Luckily, we got a day with no wind as I prefer to shoot outside for head shots! The boulder winds were just wild last week.

White Truffle Dinner at Frasca | Food photographer in Boulder, Colorado

Picking pumpkins from Red Wagon Farm has become a family tradition. So much better than grabbing one from the grocery store.

Garden to Table, Growe Foundation | Editorial Boulder Photographer

On Saturday, Columbine and the Growe Foundation built the raised beds for school’s garden to table program. The community involvement was amazing and I feel lucky to have been apart of it. Next fall, my daughter will be in Kindergarten at Columbine and it was wonderful be apart of the day.

Gypsy Farm Market was created by the ladies at Firefly and it was nothing less than amazing. The quality of the handmade goodies was unbelievable. I can’t wait for the holiday market in December. I am going to start saving now.
